Here we go again...

My bloodwork yesterday showed that I was surging naturally (LH 21), so we did the IUI this morning.  I did my trigger shot yesterday afternoon just for giggles and met the doc at 9AM today.  Count was fantastic, everything was smooth, now we wait and see.....

Wouldn't it be cool if we made our baby on Valentine's Day?!

We came home and hung out and caught up on TV and took a 2 1/2 hour nap.

We'll celebrate Valentine's Day by having a nice dinner at home this evening.

Please, oh please, let this try be the one...

Couldn't Have Asked For Anything Better.......

Today's IUI went very well.  We met the doc at about 8:45 this morning and chit chatted with her for  bit bout the new office that they have moved into (which is VERY nice!)  I gave MJ a little tour of the place -  which really means that I have been there way too much already!  We then waited for her to thaw out the goods - we came armed with the Sunday paper and our coffee!

She called us back a bit after 9 and let us know how awesome the swimmers looked - gotta love that!  As she inserted the catheter  with ease, she said "That's a good sign ladies!"  The whole procedure took less than 5 minutes.

After our obligatory 10 minute "rest" the doc let us know that my numbers looked great, the IUI was perfect, and I  should have had a good ovulation.  She said that there wasn't anything about this cycle that she would have changed. 

I came home and took a blissfull 2 hour nap and now we are hanging out and watching football.

Other than that, we sit and wait!  T minus 10 days!

Perfect!

That is how today went! I don't think anything could have gone better if we had wanted it to. We arrived at the doc's office at 11:20 so they could start thawing the sperm. We were called back at about 10 minutes to 12:00. When we went back I caught sight of one of the nurses with an oven mitt on her hand and for some reason I just thought it was the funniest thing that she was walking around carrying the sperm in her oven mitted hand. She said to us "I'm just warming up your kids!" That sent us into more laughter. Not sure why that caught us so funny, but it did.

The IUI was absolutely perfect. We had the doc that we just absolutely love do it. Funny thing is, she did our first one back when we started this journey three years ago. I said to MJ this morning, "Maybe we've come full circle and this really is our time to be pregnant." My body was perfectly ready - plenty of mucus (sorry if TMI) - cervix WIDE open. Normally, the doctors have trouble getting the catheter in through my cervix. They have to dilate me, reposition my cervix, something painful. Well, not today - the catheter went right in - no cramping, nothing! On the way out, the nurse who had the oven mitt asked us if we wanted to look at the kids under the microscope. Of course we said, "YES!" I have to say, they looked awesome!

The even better news was that if this cycle doesn't work, they won't throw us out the door. The Doc told us that we would have to take a mandatory 3 month break - lose some weight and up my Met.formin dosage. Well, I can handle that - at least there is hope. But, we are going to think positively that we won't have to go down that road at all because we will be pregnant.

Tomorrow night we start our first of five foster parent training sessions. It will be a long day as we will not be home until 9:30 tomorrow night. It's all for good though! We definitely aren't putting all of our eggs in one basket!

High Noon

As the receptionist at the office said today, my appointment for the IUI is at "high noon" tomorrow. We will arrive at the office between 11:15 and 11:30 because they will not start thawing the sperm until we get there "just in case anything happens."

MJ and I both took the entire day off tomorrow. We'll sleep in (if the dogs will let us), have a nice leisurely breakfast, and mosey our way to the appointment. This has to be our time - it just has to.......

Quick, quick update

Just wanted to get in a little update here. I went for bloodwork today Estrogen was 258, LH 10 and Progesterone 0.8. Doc says those numbers are on the rise and I trigger tonight. I will call and make an appointment for a Tuesday morning IUI. Please cross fingers, toes and anything else you can. We'll take all the positive thoughts you want to send our way!

Happy Halloween!

Any teacher out there knows how horrid Halloween Day is at school! The kids are insane, sugared up, overtired, and excited. You see, in the town we teach in, the kids trick-or-treat on "beggar's night" - October 30. Yep, that was last night - so not only were they out way too late, they fueled up on sugar before they went to bed and for breakfast! Oh, and just to keep on the sugar high, they make sure that they bring plenty to school with them for snack too! As teachers, we count down the hours until the day is over.
MJ and I work at two different schools on Fridays. At the school that I work at - the kids are not allowed to wear their Halloween costumes, but are asked instead to dress up in a way that portrays a vocabulary word for the vocabulary parade. I decided that I wasn't going to use one of the lame words they were giving out, so instead I picked my own. With the help of MJ we decided that I was going to be a ketchup bottle aka "condiment"! Everyone thought that this was just the most clever idea. So, here I am in all my glory as a ketchup, I mean condiment bottle!



Now, of course MJ needed a costume too, but she works at the fun school where they could wear their Halloween costumes. It is also Red Ribbon (Be Drug Free) Week and there was a door decorating contest at school as well. Her team (4th grade) decided to use the Wizard of Oz as a theme. They all did their doors according to a character from the movie and made a yellow brick road into all of the classrooms. MJ go to be the tin man. I think they did a marvelous job and they won the contest too! Here are some pics of MJ in her costume, the doors, and her team all dressed up!

In TTC news - the IUI went PERFECT yesterday. My cervix was wide open, and they were able to do the IUI with no problem at all. The doc said the swim team looked great and that my girlie parts looked great too. According to my AM temps, I don't think we could have timed it any better either. Let's just hope those swimmers are racing for the gold right now! We are thinking very positively!
