We Will Miss You.....

We lost our fur baby Willy today. It has been a very long and hard day, but we know we made the right decision. The tumor in his abdomen was growing daily and we couldn't let him suffer. He was an amazing dog and we will miss him dearly. He is resting peacefully at my parents' farm now which was his favorite place in the world to go. RIP Willy October 14, 2002 - April 19, 2010...We'll miss you buddy..

It's Been Over a Week.......

We're here, really we are!  I know it's time to update the blog when my Mom mentions how long it's been since there was an update!

The good news:
     *Still feeling kind of yucky which confirms that Cupid is still growing inside - LOVE IT!!!
     *Our first OB appt is this week - YAY!!
     *We are on vacation  - HALLELUJAH!!!

The bad news:
     *We've had a pretty rough week this week - we brought our black lab Willy to the vet because he was sick.  We assumed that he was relapsing from a platelet issue he had last fall and also last spring.  It is usually a very easy fix - some antibiotic and prednis0ne and he is all better.   Not the case this time......He didn't get any better from Mon  - Thurs including not eating, losing 3 pounds in 3 days and being very, very weak.  When we took him back on Thurs the vet decided to keep him and do an x-ray as well.  We found out that this is NOT the same issue as last year and in fact there is a very high probability that he has cancer in his liver and spleen.  It was just devastating news.......I don't expect him to be with us much more than another week or so.  He is only 7 1/2 - too soon to let him go... We go back to the vet one more time on Monday to check things out, but we don't expect the news to be any better.  In the meantime, we are loving on him lots, fixing him special meals of rice and enjoying the last of the time we have with him.

Losing a pet sucks - big time........

So, that's the news from here..

Some Things......

The nausea that so abruptly left a couple of weeks ago has come back over the past few days.  So has the exhaustion - big time!

I made our first OB appt.  It is on the 21st and we are anxiously awaiting that. 

I'm not quite sure how to fill out all of the health history forms since we used donor sperm.  I mean we have medical history (sort of) but just what's on the long profile and assuming it's the truth.  How did you handle this?

The dog is sick again and goes to the vet on Monday morning.

MJ bought Cupid some really cute books at the school book fair this week.  She then read them to my belly that night.  I'm finally getting used to the idea that we are going to be blessed with a baby in the fall.

Pregnancy brain is in full effect.  I am constantly losing my train of thought mid sentence.  I am also great at going from upstairs to down (or vice versa) and forgetting what I went there for.  I also don't always make sense when I'm talking.  I often find myself just starting over!

Life.is.good.  Really.good.

Back to the Grind!

UUGGHHH!!! Back to work we went this morning.... We are both working a short summer job - it is an 11 day project scoring Speci.al Ed Alterna.tive Assess.ments for our state. Today was day one- a full day of training. At least we get down to it actually scoring tomorrow. It was a bit rough getting out of bed this morning as we have been sleeping in for the past week. It won't be bad though, and the pay is good - then we get to have the rest of the summer to ourselves.

As for Willy, our dog, he is not completely better yet, but we are finally on the right track. We went for blood work again on Tuesday and FINALLY all of his levels are reaching into the normal ranges. So, we finish one antibiotic tomorrow, another next Tuesday, and then he goes back next Friday for blood and we'll talk about weaning off the pred.nisone based on those blood levels. Let's just say he's giving us a run for our money with this one.

And finally, for the big surprise around here - IT'S STILL RAINING!!! Yeah, 21 of 30 days in June it rained and it is forecasted to rain through next week as well. They are saying we might get a bit of a break this weekend, but right back to the rain next week. We are seriously contemplating building an ark and bringing our animals in two by two!!!

That's all for here - looking forward to the weekend as we get to have Olivia for the weekend - hopefully we'll get to sneak in a fireworks display or two, but it's not looking real promising with the weather the way it has been. We'll just have to do some other fun and festive activities.

School's Out for the Summer!!

AHHH, the first day of summer vacation -- or so you would think. Let's see - it is still raining and yucky outside, and to top it all off, we reached a scorching high of 68* today. We set up the pool almost a month ago and have yet to go in it. Maybe the rain could stop for an hour or two just so we could remember what the sun is like?

We both had to get up early today as I had to have some blood work, we both had meetings with the superintendant, then MJ ran some errands while I went to the vet to get MORE meds for Willy who has decided to sport a fever again. UGGGHHHH! I am so tired of him being sick - he was on the up and up when all of a sudden he had a fever Sunday and then again today. We are adding another antibiotic to his regime and hopefully that will help.

Tomorrow we get to celebrate with our favorite five year old Olivia at her Kindergarten Graduation. That will be lots of fun and we'll go out to lunch with her afterwards.

Looking forward to the possibility of some sun later this week and at least it is supposed to be nice on Saturday when we go to Bost.on for the day!

This and that.....

Willy seems to be better this morning - YEAH!!! I took him back to the vet early this morning and his blood levels have risen a bit since last night. The problem is that his platelet count is extremely low and the vet said that this can be deadly. So, we have put him on steroids for that and have to watch him for a few things. We go back on Thursday to check everything out again.

We have lots planned for the weekend too! In a little bit we are going to pack up the van with all of our treasures (read: junk) from the basement to have a yard sale with some friends tomorrow. Then we are brining the dogs to my parents for the night. We are going to see the new U.P kids movie tonight with friends, and then to have chinese food afterwards.

Looks to be a great start to a great weekend. And.................. Only 16 more get-ups until summer vacation!

Poor Wills the Dog....

We have a sick pup on our hands. We took Willy to the vet today as he has not been himself for over a week now. Well, he has lost 8 pounds in less than a month, has a skin infection under his chin, a fever, and low white blood cell and low platelet counts.

Poor baby...... we have him on a super strong antibiotic and we have to go back again in the morning to have the blood work done again for the white blood cell and platelet counts. If those come back low again, it means that there is a toxin in his system and he will need steroids.

He'll get some extra love from us the next few days and hopefully he'll be on the mend soon.....
