This and that.....

Willy seems to be better this morning - YEAH!!! I took him back to the vet early this morning and his blood levels have risen a bit since last night. The problem is that his platelet count is extremely low and the vet said that this can be deadly. So, we have put him on steroids for that and have to watch him for a few things. We go back on Thursday to check everything out again.

We have lots planned for the weekend too! In a little bit we are going to pack up the van with all of our treasures (read: junk) from the basement to have a yard sale with some friends tomorrow. Then we are brining the dogs to my parents for the night. We are going to see the new U.P kids movie tonight with friends, and then to have chinese food afterwards.

Looks to be a great start to a great weekend. And.................. Only 16 more get-ups until summer vacation!

Poor Wills the Dog....

We have a sick pup on our hands. We took Willy to the vet today as he has not been himself for over a week now. Well, he has lost 8 pounds in less than a month, has a skin infection under his chin, a fever, and low white blood cell and low platelet counts.

Poor baby...... we have him on a super strong antibiotic and we have to go back again in the morning to have the blood work done again for the white blood cell and platelet counts. If those come back low again, it means that there is a toxin in his system and he will need steroids.

He'll get some extra love from us the next few days and hopefully he'll be on the mend soon.....

What Was Supposed to Be.....

Today was the day we should have been 13 weeks pregnant. Through our first trimester....the week we should have been happily announcing our news. I know we can't change what has happened, but it's days like today that remind you of how much it all sucks...

We Love a Long Weekend!

AAHHHHH!!! The long weekend - there isn't anything better. Well, maybe one thing - SUMMER VACATION! We have 20 more school days until that comes, so we'll relish our long weekend now! We have a HUGE list of outdoor projects that we would like to get completed. I'll be happy if we get through a quarter of them! We have to relax this weekend too.....

In addition to the outdoor projects, we will probably work a bit on either our quilt or scrapbook projects for this month - the first weekend of June is coming up quickly! We are going to a cookout with a couple of teacher friends on Monday as well. Other than that, we are looking forward to just hanging out and spending time together.

In TTC news - I went for my D & C follow up appointment this week and they said that everything looks good and healed well. They put me on three months of birth control and we can try again when I finish the pills. That will be the beginning of August, which is perfect for us as we are working the first two weeks of July and then going to Minnesota for the rest of the month.

That's all from here right now - we'll let you know how much we accomplish this weekend!

Enjoy your long weekend (if you get one)!

Turning Point

I finally reached a turning point this week. All of a sudden I said to MJ, "I feel good today!" The best part was that the feeling continued the next day, and the next, and the next..... I think my hormones have probably balanced out, I have stopped bleeding, and am just generally in a better space. I have to say it feels good - finally.

We've had a great weekend too - Friday night we went to dinner and went shopping, and Saturday we did a bunch of yardwork and put together our new gazebo that we bought Friday night. Then we went shopping for a patio set to put inside the gazebo. It was so much fun and was nice to spend time together. At one point I mentioned to MJ that I feel like this is the first weekend that has finally had some sense of normalcy. Not that we don't have our moments still that are tough, but is is nice to have our lives back a bit.

Today we are going to my parents' house for a seafood boil to celebrate my brother's 30th birthday. The cake is cooling and we have to frost and decorate it, then go pick up my Nana. The dogs are resting up as they are very excited to go and play as well.

Things are looking up!

Bedtime Snacks

We like to have a snack before bedtime, just like our moms! We especially like it when they finally empty the ice cream container so we can make sure it is real clean before it goes into the garbage. They are really nice to us because they usually leave a little bit of ice cream in the bottom for us!

Nat.ional Scrap.book Day

Last weekend, we went with our friends Laura and Sue, and another friend from work to an all day crop for Nat.ional Scrap.book Day. Yes, it is true, there really is a Nat.ional Scrap.book Day - it is always the first weekend in May. We had such an awesome time! We were there and set up to work by 9 AM and we didn't leave until just before 8PM! The crop went until 9PM, but we had over an hour drive home and had to work the next day. Here is our table - as you can see, we were all working away!

Everyone got one of these cute little bags with some munchies in it. We also got a reusable bag with ribbon, markers, scrapbooking paper, and a kit of some sort (everyone got a different one). Plus they had raffles all day - we one one! They also let you run a tab and then took 25% off your entire purchase.

They fed us breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of the food was really yummy! At the end of the day, they brought out this fabulous cake which was so well done! Around the brim of the hat it said: Scrapbook Island - National Scrapbook Day. It was yummy too!

We can't wait until they have another event like this - it was so much fun, and we accomplished a ton!

Gay Marriage

For any of you in the Northeast, you have probably been following the news regarding gay marriage. A couple of weeks ago, the Vermont house passed their gay marriage law even though their Governor vetoed it. Just last week, the Governor of Maine passed their gay marriage law. Also last week, the New Hampshire House and Senate both passed the bill that would allow gay marriage. Now we are just waiting for Governor Lynch to sign it. The problem is - he said he believes the word marriage should be reserved for a man and a woman. However, he has not stated that he won't sign the bill either. So, we are just waiting to see what he will do.

New Hampshire Freedom to Marry is running the following TV ad to gather support for this bill. I think they did a nice job with it!

We are keeping our fingers crossed that our Governor will do the right thing and make HB436 become law. If he does, 5 of the 6 New England states will allow gay marriage!

Happy Mother's Day to the two greatest moms in the world! WE LOVE YOU!!!

MJ's Mom

Carrie's Mom

I stole this from from Lisa's blog, but it really sums up how we feel today....
To those who are blessed to have children on earth, to those blessed to have angels in heaven and to those who are mothers in their hearts and just waiting for their miracle, Happy Mother's Day.

Normal- What is that?

Here we sit on a Saturday morning - both of us just utterly exhausted. We are just physically and emotionally worn out. The thing is - we know that is completely normal, however it is hard to let it be normal. Because, really, what is normal right now???

Our world has come crashing down around us, yet life keeps moving at full speed. The demands of work are there, and it is the end of the year, so it is an even more stressful time than normal. There are meetings, extra meetings, testing, kids out of control, etc. I know this is the way it always is at this time of the year, but my head is still in a fog, and somedays I just can't cope......

I know that life has to go on, and I know that some sense of normalcy will begin to creep back into our lives. Right now, though, it seems as if we are struggling to find that balance. We are amazed at how quickly we became attached to that little life growing inside of me, and I think we are a bit surprised at how emotionally taxing this truly has been for both of us.

We have each other, we WILL make it through this - I guess some days are just tougher than others....

Happy Anniversary!

Today is our anniversary. Three years ago we "hopped the border" to Vermont and had a Civil Union! The more exciting news at this time is that there is a possibility that Marriage will become legal by the end of this week in NH!! The Senate passed it last week, the House will vote tomorrow, and then it can move to the Governor. Maybe on our anniversary next year we can be married for real!

We are both back to work and trying to return to normal this week. Things get better day by day, but the waves of sadness still come as I'm sure they will for a long time. We continue to heal and couldn't do it without all of the love and support we have had from friends and family. It is a turn in the road that we didn't expect to take, but our journey will continue.

We are so blessed to have each other and we celebrate that today!

Kits of the Month

And now for another installment of our Quilt Blocks and Scrapbooking kits from our April Kits.
We really enjoy going to these clubs each month and this month it came at the perfect time!

Here are our two quilt blocks for the month - these were harder than the past ones have been and we even had to have my mom give us a bit of advice. We got them finished though. The top one is mine and the bottom one is MJ's.

The next set of pictures comes from our scrapbooking kits. We actually got a lot out of the kit this month and we each did 4 pages - 2 double layouts. We had pictures from coloring eggs with Olivia and her moms last year. The bottom set is making a bunny house with Olivia last year as well. (click on the pics and you can see the layouts better)

Today we are off to our all day crop which we have been looking forward to for some time now. It will be an all day scrapbooking frenzy and will be a great way to spend the day.

A New Day

I am confident that tomorrow will promise to be a new and better day. I have been cooped up in the house and walking around like a zombie for 4 days now. It is time to enjoy life and friends and family even as we grieve our loss.

All went well with the D & C today. My doctor is just incredible and I am so glad we lucked out choosing them. She stood and held my hand and told me how sorry she was as they put me to sleep. I was in and out of the operating room in less than a 1/2 hour. Physically I feel quite well - better than I thought - no pain meds needed - just some A.dvil.

I am so blessed to have a wonderful partner and we are so blessed to have so many family and friends who have been there (and will continue to be) as our journey has taken a turn we didn't expect it to. All of the kind words and thoughts from people in real life and on the blog have truly meant the world to us.

A special thank you to whomever posted our story over at LFCA the extra encouragement we received from folks over there was just another kindness to help ease the pain a bit.

This weekend is National Scrapbook Weekend so it promises to be full of fun - just what we need. Tomorrow we have our Kit of the Month Clubs (scrapbooking and quilting) and we will have lunch with our good friends Laura, Sue, and Olivia. Sunday we are signed up for an all day crop from 9 AM - 9PM with goodie bags, raffles, contests, and 3 catered meals. We are going with 3 friends to that. I am ready to get back to life and now that the my body is healing physically, I really feel that the emotional healing can begin.

Again, thanks to everyone for all of the support - it really has meant the world to both of us - more than you even know!

Ride to Heaven

Last weekend, my parents had one of their miniature donkeys pass away. She had been sick, but her death was rather sudden. My parents have been distraught not knowing what happened to her.

Yesterday my mom said to me, "You know, I was thinking about why Pop Pop died last weekend and now I know. Your baby needed a ride to heaven, so Pop Pop put the baby on her back and they went to heaven together."

How sweet is that..........just a small thought to ease the pain a bit.
